n the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Input: uinput - reject requests with unreasonable number of slots When exercising uinput interface syzkaller may try setting up device with a really large number of slots, which causes memory allocation failure in input_mt_init_slots(). While this allocation failure is handled properly and request is rejected, it results in syzkaller reports. Additionally, such request may put undue burden on the system which will try to free a lot of memory for a bogus request. Fix it by limiting allowed number of slots to 100. This can easily be extended if we see devices that can track more than 100 contacts.

  • (es) En el kernel de Linux, se ha resuelto la siguiente vulnerabilidad: Entrada: uinput - rechazar solicitudes con un número irrazonable de ranuras Al ejercitar la interfaz uinput, syzkaller puede intentar configurar el dispositivo con un número realmente grande de ranuras, lo que provoca un error de asignación de memoria en input_mt_init_slots(). Si bien este error de asignación se maneja correctamente y la solicitud se rechaza, da como resultado informes de syzkaller. Además, dicha solicitud puede poner una carga indebida en el sistema que intentará liberar una gran cantidad de memoria para una solicitud falsa. Arréglelo limitando el número permitido de ranuras a 100. Esto se puede ampliar fácilmente si vemos dispositivos que pueden rastrear más de 100 contactos.
